Error: "invalid syntax"#52

D

I have been following along with David Siska’s YouTube video “Vega Testnet Jam - Liquidity Provision (15/04/21)”

I cloned the files and got as far as minute 9:55, i.e . running submit-order.py, This gave an error of:

File “submit-order.py”, line 57 url = f”{walletserver_url}/api/v1/wallets” ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax

Well done on the project, by the way.

Update: I managed to get past this using “python3 submit-order.py” instead of “python submit-order.py”, i.e. specifying the python version, I believe. This then led onto a different error of not finding the helpers module. It seems to me that my bionic Linux is too old for the software.

Update 2: I tried it on a more recent version of Linux and got the same problems. I suppose this is why gitpod is recommended, as the environment is controlled and tested, but that then requires learning gitpod and trusting it.

Potentially I have misunderstood and gone down completely the wrong path here, but I trust the feedback is useful either way.

David, thanks for your feedback! It looks to me like a few steps weren’t clear to you while you were following along, which means we didn’t make them clear enough.

If you wanted to try again, I’m sure we can get you through these hiccups. Please drop a message into the testnet channel on discord (https://vega.xyz/discord).
